EngineeringUK, formerly known as the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB), is an independent, not-for-profit organization established in 2001. Its mission is to drive change by inspiring more young people, from all backgrounds, to pursue careers in engineering and technology. Recognising the need for a stronger and more diverse workforce in these sectors, EngineeringUK collaborates with businesses, educators, government bodies, and the engineering community to grow the future talent pool.
From 2023 to 2028, EngineeringUK’s strategy focuses on four key areas: conducting research and gathering evidence to understand workforce needs, fostering partnerships to amplify collective impact, running school activities to ignite interest in engineering, and advocating for equitable access to STEM careers education. The organization is committed to building a diverse workforce that can drive economic growth, enhance sustainability, and achieve net zero goals.
Environmental sustainability is central to EngineeringUK’s initiatives. The organization aims to inspire young people to pursue engineering careers that positively impact the environment while also reducing its own carbon footprint. Their sustainability strategy focuses on understanding how to meet workforce needs for environmental sustainability, motivating young people to address environmental challenges, and minimizing their environmental impact through sustainable operations.
