The EB Awards - gain recognition for your school

Schools, Colleges and Universities across the UK provide not just greater knowledge, but also an improvement to the lives of the current and future workforce. With regards to budgeting and procurement, many schools now enjoy more autonomy and greater flexibility.

The Education Business Awards have recognised achievements in thousands of state and independent schools since 2009. Over twenty categories, including those for Outstanding Progress and Leadership, SEN Best Practice and Provision, ICT Innovation, Procurement, Security, Environmental Practice, Building, Catering and more.

Matthew Burton from Educating Yorkshire to present the 2026 Awards

This year, the Awards will be presented by Matthew Burton, star of C4s Educating Yorkshire and headteacher of Thornhill Primary Academy.

Educating Yorkshire returned to Channel 4 in 2025, bringing renewed attention to the school and its community as it navigates daily school life in a heartwarming and humorous way.

Matthew took on the role of Headteacher at Thornhill Community Academy in 2018, leading the school through a period of change and development.

An accomplished author, Matthew has written two books focused on supporting young people. Go Big is a practical ‘survival guide’ designed to help children aged 10 and over navigate the transition from primary to secondary education, while Back on Track focuses on motivation and guiding pupils towards success in school.

It was a privilege to be shortlisted for the Environmental Practice category of the Education Business Awards 2018. The venue and the ceremony were first class at the Grange Hotel in St Pauls, in London. The organisation for the awards was first rate; nothing is too much trouble for the helpful staff. The award itself recognises the hard work of schools on a national stage. It provides an excellent opportunity to network with other schools and providers. It has been lovely recognition for our school.
