Chess in Schools and Communities (CSC) is a nationwide charity that runs chess lessons and clubs in over 300 schools across the country. Children are taught by one of our trained tutors, progressing from the rules of the game to foundational tactics and strategy over a full academic year.
Children acquire a life-long skill, opening up an affordable and enjoyable game of limitless depth. They also gain well-documented educational and social benefits through learning the game. Schools receive chess sets, teaching and learning resources and entry to school activity days at the London Chess Classic and ChessFest.
Staff are offered free places on tutor training courses, enabling them to lead or support our lessons. Alongside direct teaching, we provide a range of support to over 2,800 schools, including free chess sets, teacher training, access to online platforms, and use of the CSC curriculum.
