Warren Carratt is Chief Executive Officer of Nexus MAT, a trust providing education to children across the South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire regions, with a majority of special schools. A “first generation” CEO, Warren was recruited to post following national advert in 2015. Between August 2022 – February 2025, Warren was also the CEO of the Evolve Trust, a failed MAT which he was appointed to lead with the specific brief of re-brokering its academies and closing the Trust down.
Warren has not come intro Trust leadership through the Headteacher route, instead having a background in local government and the NHS.
Warren is a sitting Magistrate, and is also an independent member of the Police & Crime Panel, a statutory body which holds the South Yorkshire Mayor to account. He is an advisory member to the Staff College, and was a member of the Department for Education’s Attendance Action Alliance. He is also an employer representative on Teaching Pension Scheme Pension Board. He was elected as a member of the Policy Advisory Group that the Confederation of School Trusts established in 2024, and writes regularly for Schools Week and TES.
