Agrostis Sports Surface Consulting was established in 2005 to provide technical advice and support for projects involving the design, construction and maintenance of outdoor spaces used primarily for sport. Our focus is on natural grass but, to provide a comprehensive service, we also design 3G sports pitches and MUGAs.
Our work requires an extensive appreciation of plant and soil science as these factors relate to sports surfaces. As well as ensuring the design of suitable drainage systems, this understanding allows us to incorporate the principles of bio-diversity net gain (BNG) and sustainable drainage (SUDS) into our projects.
We believe this holistic approach is essential in the design of spaces that enhance bio-diversity, sustainability and people’s experience of the outdoor environment generally.
Much of our work includes the creation and improvement of school and local authority playing fields. This requires extensive liaison with main contractors, turf-based sub-contractors, local and planning authorities and statutory bodies such as Sport England. Although we maintain friendly and constructive relationships with the industry, we have no commercial ties with anyone. Our chief concerns are for the satisfaction of our clients while adhering to our principles of optimum design value from an environmental, social, commercial and sporting perspective.
